More information

There are currently two Self Management Programmes to choose from:

Expert Patients Programme (EPP) – a six week course for adults living with long-term health conditions. Some courses are specific to those with depression and anxiety or cancer.

Diabetes Self Management Programme (DSMP) – a six week course for adults living with type 2 diabetes. This programme is an adapted version of the EPP and will cover diabetes specific topics such as healthy eating, managing your sugar levels, looking after your feet, etc.

“I had a letter asking me to go on a course in Sedgley, what impressed me from day one was the distraction method. I couldn’t believe what was happening to me. I’ve got a little workshop at the back of the house where I make things on a wood lathe, and I found that when I was working in there it took my mind off everything and I got no pain. The course helped me to see how I could use the things I love to manage my health.” (EPP participant)

“It was great to know I could help control my diabetes myself. It’s just about ‘getting the balance right’ and that’s easy to do when someone explains it to you in a simple way and gives you real ways of managing, that will stay with you long after the 6 weeks is over” (DSMP participant)
