Following their successful Stay and Play pilot programme in partnership with Silverbells Pre-school Nursery, with funding secured from the Innovation Fund Grant, Living Hope Church have been able to commit to a further 3 year project to establish and develop the Stay and Play group for parents and carers to bring their babies and toddlers, 0-4 years old. Their pilot was the first Stay and Play group in recent years to open on the Russells Hall Estate and has had a significant impact building relationships between local families, those new to the area and volunteers from Living Hope Church, Dudley.
Stay and Play is a fun and safe environment for children to play and allows parents to relax, meet and form friendships with other parents. Activities include reading stories, singing songs and role. Volunteers are able to play alongside the children engaging them in fun things that boost learning, wellbeing, and resilience as well as forming friendships and providing support for parents, carers and families.
They serve some of the most disadvantaged and vulnerable families in the borough and are based on the Russells Hall Estate, St Barnabas Church. Their aim to reach children and families in one of Dudley’s most deprived and disadvantaged communities where there are a disproportionate number of vulnerable families at risk.
Little Stars Stay & Play is held every Thursday at 1pm – 2.30 p.m. at St Barnabas Church, Middlepark Road, Russells Hall, Dudley, DY1 2LD. First taster session free of charge – thereafter the cost is £2 per child (babies up to 12 months £1) plus 50p for each additional child (Tea and coffee for the adults) – Everyone welcome.
