Following their successful Holiday Club pilot, Living Hope Church have secured funding from the Innovation Fund to upscale the school holiday clubs they offer. The school holiday club initiative will provide children with a fun activity based club during the school holidays and will also provide children with a hot nutritious meal each day to combat holiday hunger. Churches working together will create several holiday clubs throughout the year, located within known areas of poverty, where holiday hunger is a problem for children. Holiday clubs will be located in areas known for its levels of deprivation such as Central Dudley, Wrens Nest Estate, Russells Hall Estate and Stickley Estate in Gornal. Partners Chadd will provide nutritious hot meals at every holiday club.
The holiday clubs will provide up to 400 children per year with activities that boost learning, wellbeing, and resilience. The funding will also be used to resource a simultaneous ‘parent cafe’ at each club to connect parents who may struggle with loneliness.
