Compliance with School Food Standards
Any food and drink provided/sold at breaktime must be compliant with the national school food standards for school food other than lunch.
Governors should work in partnership with their school to undertake a regular audit of food and drink provision using the Checklist for school food other than lunch.
Healthy Break Policy
It is recommended that Primary Schools adopt a ‘Healthy Break Policy’ that covers food and drinks brought in from home. The policy should encourage pupils to only bring in from home the following food and drink items for break:
