KIDS Orchard Centre based in Lye, with Innovation Fund support, will be piloting a project which will see their centre open for half days on Saturdays open to disabled young people who receive personal assistant support and also parents with their young person. KIDS Orchard Centre is a safe environment which caters for children and young people with any disability of any complexity. These Saturday sessions will provide vital support to carers by offering safe, facilitated, low cost, meaningful short breaks with strong transition outcomes of the development of life and social skills
This will be a place for people between the ages of 14-25, whatever their disability or circumstances to meet and will be open to anyone, any family and any company. KIDS staff will be facilitating independence skills sessions with a focus on cooking and eating together, gardening (growing fruit and veg to then cook and eat), and sensory play.
